Campaign Statement: I, Dakota Nicley, announce my candidacy for Executive Board Member-at-Large of the Freelance Musicians Association. As a professional musician with decades of experience in the independent musician’s world, I value the history and traditions that sustain our unique industry and recognize the emerging forces transforming it. I’ve dedicated myself to working with musicians to secure good pay, dignified work, and protecting their rights. I have years of experience leading large organizations, and an extensive educational background in music, education, organizing & training. My approach to leadership emphasizes informed policy, proactive advocacy, transparency, and accountability. That is why I am the best candidate to fill this position.
As an Executive Board Member-At-Large I will ensure that musicians remain protected, valued, and empowered as our profession evolves, and defend working musicians and their rights in the digital age, including the ethical governance of artificial intelligence and its impact on the creative sector.
